Truyện tranh bắt nguồn từ đâu?
Truyện tranh là loại hình nghệ thuật kể chuyện mang tính thương mại. Nó bao gồm nhiều thể loại và phong cách khác nhau. Từ truyện tranh siêu anh hùng của Steve Ditko (đồng tác giả của Spider-Man) cho đến tự truyện Smile của Raina Telgemeier và manga Lone Wolf and Cub của Goseki Kojima. Ngoài ra, họa sĩ truyện tranh cũng cần có khả năng vẽ đường phố, phòng thẩm vấn, và thậm chí cả trạm không gian theo yêu cầu của câu chuyện, rồi đặt nhân vật trong bối cảnh đó. Bạn phải thực hiện việc này đúng thời hạn. Những ứng dụng vẽ như Adobe Photoshop Sketch có công cụ cho phép thêm phối cảnh khi vẽ. Đây là cách hiệu quả để rèn luyện kỹ năng vẽ phối cảnh. “Hãy sử dụng hình ảnh tham khảo,” họa sĩ Jen Bartel gợi ý. “Trong quá trình sáng tác truyện tranh, họa sĩ sẽ vẽ can phần background. Kể chuyện là quan trọng nhất

Ngay cả comic strip 3 khung đơn giản cũng phản ánh diễn biến câu chuyện dưới dạng hình ảnh. Trong hoạt hình, từng khung hình được sử dụng để phản ánh từng giây chuyển động. Lần đầu tiên ngồi sáng tác truyện tranh, bạn sẽ thấy chọn lựa nằm ở việc vẽ bao nhiêu giữa hai khung hình mà không gây nhầm lẫn cho độc giả. Độc giả không cần xem nhân vật đi từ gọi món đến ngồi vào bàn để hiểu diễn biến câu chuyện. Nhưng nhân vật đi từ Trái Đất lên Mặt Trăng trong hai khung hình thì lại gây nhầm lẫn.

Andy Schmidt, cựu biên tập viên của Marvel Comics, cho biết, “Điều khiến họa sĩ truyện tranh – ngay cả khi người đó là họa sĩ minh họa thực thụ – trở nên nổi bật hơn người nằm ở khả năng truyền tải câu chuyện dễ dàng.” Khả năng kể chuyện mang tính nghệ thuật được thể hiện qua cách phân khung trang truyện, và cách vẽ nhịp điệu câu chuyện trong những khung hình này. Họa sĩ truyện tranh sử dụng storyboard (bảng phân cảnh) trong giai đoạn đầu của quy trình. Nhờ đó, họ có thể trau chuốt câu chuyện trước khi diễn họa nhân vật và background. Trau chuốt xong câu chuyện, họa sĩ chuyển bản phác thảo thành trang minh họa đầy đủ.
Cần chọn lựa hình ảnh trong từng khung hình. Chọn lựa đúng sẽ giúp làm rõ vị trí của các nhân vật trong mối tương quan với nhau. Ngay cả khi họa sĩ thay đổi góc nhìn, chúng ta vẫn thấy nhân vật trong suốt cảnh truyện. Nghiên cứu truyện tranh của các bậc thầy như Frank Miller, Walt Simonson, Marie Severin, và Stan Sakai sẽ mang đến cái nhìn sâu sắc về những gì được xem là hiệu quả. Bước chân vào ngành công nghiệp truyện tranh

Nhưng mỗi trang truyện hoàn chỉnh sẽ làm dày thêm CV của bạn.
